Waiting on Wednesday (89)

"Waiting on" Wednesday" is weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming anticipated releases.

June 20, 2017

FROM GOODREADS: Mary Jekyll, alone and penniless following her parents' death, quickly finds herself drawn into the secrets of her father's mysterious past. A clue leads her to believe that Edward Hyde, her father's former friend and a murderer, may be nearby, and there is still a reward for information leading to his capture - a reward which would solve all er immediate financial woes. Her hunt leads her not to Edward Hyde but to Diana, his daughter, a near feral child left to be raised by nuns.

With the assistance of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, Mary continues her search for the elusive Hyde and soon gathers around her more women, all of whom have been created through terrifying experimentation: Beatrice Rappaccini, Catherine Moreau, and Justine Frankestein. When their investigations lead them to the discovery of a secret society of immoral and power-crazed scientists, the horrors of their past soon arrive as well, and it is up to the five of them to stop the malicious machinations of the Société les Alchimistes. It is time for the monsters to triumph over the monstrous.

WHY I'M WAITING: I stumbled on this a few weeks ago and pretty much all it took to add it to the wishlist, besides the great cover, was the mention of Jekyll, Hyde, Holmes and Watson.  How can anyone resist that?

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR THIS WEEK????

  1. Beautiful cover! I like that kind of decoration. It's interesting to see Holmes and Watson mixed into a plot with the Jekyll and Hyde characters. It certainly sounds different.

    1. I know. I'm really like historical fiction when it has paranormal/creepy elements so I hope this one pans out.

  2. I must admit I am not real huge fan of those types of covers, but like you it does get my attention with the names of those characters and so it's going on the list. :)

    1. Perhaps it's the colors on it, but for some reason, the cover really works for me. I guess maybe I'm just glad there isn't a woman in a dress on it as seems to be the case on a lot of books lately.
