Stacking the Shelves (127) / Sunday Post

Stacking the Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves or TBR piles, may it be physical or virtual.  This means you can include books you buy in a physical store, online, books you borrow from the library or friends, review books, gifts and of course, ebooks! The original meme was started over at Tynga's Reviews. And it now has a new co-host where individuals can link up as well - Marlene from Reading Reality.  Clicking on the book (or title) should take you to the Goodreads page.  I'm also now linking up with the Sunday Post which is hosted by Kimberly@Caffeinated Book ReviewerI'm hoping to discover some new blogs to love.

This week a preorder arrived.  Look out pretty and let me tell you, the photos inside are gorgeous. Basically it's the photographer, who worked with Prince for years, sharing his photos and telling little stories and anecdotes about him.  For example, sometimes Prince would answer his ow phone at his studio and put on a fake country accent and act like it was a restaurant and that he didn't know anyone named Prince.  Things like that.  I can't wait to read all of Picturing Prince.

I also picked up a few books I had on hold at the library and by a few, I mean six.  Is there some rule that they all come in all the time?  My library finally got in Chew Vol. 5 and Chew Vol. 6.  They also ordered in Chew Omnivore and I'm trying to figure out where it goes in the series.  I've been wanting to give Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur a go so I'm glad they finally came in and of course, I need to see how Rituals wraps up the Cainsville series even though I'll be sad to see it go.

And finally, a few books for review.  I saw The Devil's Wedding Ring on someone's blog (wish I could remember who, it may have been Tracy) so when I saw it on Netgalley, I couldn't resist.  One look at the pup on Rescued and my C-ADHD kicked in and finally, I feature Glass Town on a Can't Wait Wednesday post years ago and am glad to finally have a copy.

I mentioned yesterday I hope everyone is staying safe with all the catastrophes happening.  Well, the boys can't stand to be left out so they want to ask that you keep in mind all the pets and animals being traumatized and help if you can.  They've already made their Harvey and Irma donations!

What books did you add this week?

I'll close with Cass and his purple bandana doing his Prince "I'm not looking at you" impression!

  1. Cass looks very handsome in his bandana! This has been a quiet week for book buying but next week might not be...I have plans...! Your Prince book sounds interesting. I know it's silly but Prince always seemed so quiet and serious that I couldn't imagine him pulling pranks like that! Hope you all have a great week at the farm!

  2. I have only grabbed one book this week, so far. I swear it's the weekends that kill me when it comes to books because I visit peoples STACKS...lol. The Devil's Wedding Ring sounds really good but I am trying to resist...lol. I put it on my wishlist on amazon and at the price it is now it's staying there for a while...$22 for a ebook...um no.

Enjoy your Prince book, you and your Prince...lol. ;)

Hope you have a great weekend reading!

    1. I agree, it's visiting all the blogs that always adds to the book grabbing. I can't believe that ebook costs so much. I can never figure that out. You know me and my Prince. There is another new one coming out soon which I've preordered as well.

  11. I've been thinking of all the wildlife in the mountains that are in danger because of the fires across the western part of the country. It's just so devastating all around. The fires and hurricanes . . . Thank you for thinking of the animals.

Looks like you got some great books to read. I still need to jump into Rachel Caine's series. And Glass Town sounds really good. I hope you enjoy them all, Barb!

    Have a great week!

    1. My thoughts go out to the people as well but I always feel so badly about the animals. That's where we chose to focus our donations. In fact, if I can grab a rescue puppy from either Texas or Florida, I'm definitely going to try to convince Mr. Barb.

  12. Cass has the look down pat. LOL So many fun books and that Prince book looks awesome. Been running into it recently. Fires to the west and hurricane to the east. It's dangerous times and my thoughts are with all in the paths.

    1. I always try to grab graphic novels from my library. There's only a few I've ever bought. They are SOOOO expensive and don't take that long to read.

  19. Cass does a great Prince impression! I think that there is some kind of rule that all library holds must become available at the same time since it happens every single time. Enjoy all of your new books, Barb!

  23. Cass looks good in his bandana. And I think libraries let a lot of holds come in at once on purpose. ;-) Just kidding; I'm sure they don't. But it often seems to happen that way. I had about 9 come in last week, due to a glitch in the "pause" function. I'll never get them all read in time!

    1. 9 - I think that beats my all-time record of 6. What's also bad is when you pick them up and the next day, you get notice that another is in. Cass and T love wearing bandanas and have quite a collection.
